SLINKACHU
The street artist known only as Slinkachu has been abandoning little people on the streets of London since 2006. His first project, Little People in the City saw miniature men, women and children living their lives on the streets of London and was immortalised in the 2008 book entitled Little People in the City. Since then, Slinkachu has done a number of other projects, notably Whatever Happened to the Men of Tomorrow which documented the decline of a tiny, middle-aged and balding super-hero on the streets of London and ‘Inner City Snail – a slow moving street art project which saw Slinkachu customising a number of London snails which then presumably went about their business none the wiser. So, next time you are out and about in London, look down, for you might be missing out on the drama unfolding below.
My Favorite Slinkachu Photograph
This is my favorite slinkachu photograph because it has a story behind it, and has great focus and contrast.
Cordal's Photography
Isaac Cordal’s work is driven by the sculpture and installation itself. Cordal is first and foremost a traditional sculptor, modelling his primary figures in clay. He then casts multiples in cement using silicone moulds. The multiples are then installed in their urban locations, and it’s this vernacular approach to his street level intervention that harmonises his work so well to it’s environment. The cement figures blend into the landscape by their use of similar materials to which they are placed within. He installes the tiny dioramas in cities around the world, takes photographs – leaving his work to be kicked or ignored or taken away.

My Photography
At first I kept trying to make the slinkachu look like it was on top of the building and tried to frame the picture well eventually in the end I got it.
Worst Photograph
This is my worst picture because the slinkachu figure is not in focus and it has camera shake.
Best Photograph
This is my best picture because the background is in place and I set the correct depth of field.
Hearts
In this shoot the idea was good but because of the lighting I struggled to get the focus point on the figures, I will try again in my next shoot but select a background with less light.
These are all the pictures I have taken, at first I was struggling because I couldn't get the lighting on the slinkachu because it was too bright at the back then I used the flash on my phone and put it on my slinkachu this helped the slinkachu appear to be in the correct place.
Racing Shoot
When I took this photograph I changed the camera angle and put it against the wall upside down so i can make it look like the slinkch figures are racing on a track.
When I was organising this photo-shoot I should have not used a lot of blue tack so i can make the photograph look more realistic.

Worst Picture
This is my worst picture because all the slinkachu's are out of focus and my aim was to get the right depth of field.
Best Picture
This is my best picture because my main point was to get the correct depth of field and focus point.
WB Settings Pictures
Worst Picture
This is my worst picture because the slinkachu figures and the background are out of focus.
My Best picture
This is my best picture because the background and the depth of field are correct and I used Photoshop to edit the photo.
My worst photograph
This is my worst photograph because you can see the string that the slinkchu is hanging on, also the back ground isn’t suitable for the scene.
My best photograph
This is my best photograph because the angle and the focus point are correct, also I used Photoshop to edit the photograph and to add buildings into the background.
The Road to Nowhere
Worst Picture
This is my worst photo because the background is out of focus and the camera is not in the right position.
Best Picture
This is my favourite picture because after many attempts I got the lighting and the focus correct, the composition is strong and creates the effect the man is wandering down the road.
Unit 1 Evaluation
From this unit I have learnt how to use the camera and all the important settings, such as how to set the focus point and depth of field, and also the composure of the photograph. What I found most difficult was to set the lighting correctly on the slinkachu, for example I put my phone behind a slinkachu and the camera couldn't capture the slinkachu because there wasn't enough lighting. I then put the flash directly on the slinkachu and the photograph came out perfect. What I also found difficult was at the start I couldn't set my focus point on the slinkachu and everything became blurry but after a bit of practice I got it. One of my strengths was Photoshop, if I took a photograph and it wasn't what I particularly wanted I would Photoshop it, for example I took a photograph of a car crash and the slinkachu was hanging with a piece of string and in the photograph you can see the string so I put my skills into practice and went on Photoshop and edited the string out of the picture creating the image I had intended to create in the first instance.
