Exposure
This is the light meter which shows how much lights goes into the picture:

In this picture the camera is wanted to make sure that the walls of this tunnel were exposed correctly but instead the image at the end of the tunnel in the daylight is over exposed. By making the exposure to about -1.0, the other side of the picture is able to force the camera to make the exposure darker.

This shows the case of exposure starting from under exposed meter -3 which is a really dark image causing it to be not seen to the right exposed meter (0) which shows clearest picture you can see. Over exposed meter (+3) which is very a bright image causing it to be not seen.
